New Joule Facility for Galway

We’re proud to announce the official opening of the new Joule Technical Sales and Design facility in Ballybane, Galway. Situated in Glenrock Business Park, our office, training facility and showroom is a new focus for our west-of-the-Shannon clients and partners. We’re responding the the growing demand for Joule products throughout the west of the country and beyond. We’re investing in customer support, training and the ever growing base of Joule clients.

Day 1 in Donegal

At 11.ooam on Friday, the Joule Donegal International Rally kicks off from An Grianán and this year’s stages promise to be better than ever. Friday promises great weather (as far as great weather can be promised!) and dry roads could see some eye watering times. Day 1 will cover over 77km and 6 stages, with places like Newtowncunningham and Burt seeing racing back after a few years gap. The first cars from Stage One are due on Mouldy Hill at 12.20pm, when the weekend competition starts in earnest.

Gas Boiler Ban in Favour of Renewables

Following recommendations from the Independent Committee on Climate Change, the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, recently announced a ban on gas boilers for all new homes, from 2025. Various ways of reducing fossil fuel as an energy source in new builds, have been mooted before, but an outright ban within 6 years, puts the measure in a formal setting. While gas for cooking will still be allowed for the foreseeable future, gas heating systems will not be a feature in new homes from 2025. The gas ban is part of an effort to reduce carbon emissions, as part of the UK’s role in tackling climate change. Up to 14% of emissions come from housing and a lot of the increase in home emissions, comes from gas boilers. So what will replace gas and what will builders and developers be installing as alternatives to gas heating?

In the first of its kind, the Hot Water Association (HWA) has launched a new consumer guide, giving homeowners essential information on keeping hot water cylinders in their best condition. The Homeowners Guide to Unvented Hot Water Cylinder Servicing gives consumers a handle on when to have cylinders serviced, who to contact and how to know that a good job has been done.
